Dialogues (# 7)
Reading
:
In this
unit, you will read and listen to 7 dialogues where people talk about simple
and everyday topics. Dialogue #7 introduces an ancient Egyptian myth
simplified.
You will work
on catching the main topic or idea that someone is talking about.
You will read
the text vowelled and unvowelled
Listening & pronunciation:
You will
practice listening to the “dialogues” several times while reading the vowelled
text aloud repeatedly with the reader and after the reader.
You should
record your reading and compare it to the sound file you heard.
Vocabulary
& Structure:
You will learn
a number of new everyday vocabulary;
You will study
the new words and recognize the root from which the word is derived and the
type of word as well as its meaning; You will read the new words in sentences
different from those provided in the text to see the word in different
contexts;
You will learn
how to conjugate the new verbs in their different tenses with the different
singular, dual and plural feminine and masculine pronouns. You will also learn
the verb type or the (wazn) of the verb you are using; Having the root
presented in the word profile table, you are encouraged to take the root of the
verb and look it up in the dictionary to develop your dictionary skills;
You will be
practicing to use the new words n sentence and paragraph contexts.
Assignment:
After completing the study of the different dialogues you can simply
take a quiz to test before you could move to the following text type.
After reading
each lesson you are encouraged to record your reading aloud of the text and

Text type 2
narration — diaries (# of texts 4)
In this unit,
you will read and listen to 4 short diary entries.
You will be
focusing on how to give a recount with events that took place in your daily
life. You will be required to determine the main ideas as well as some detail.
You will practice depicting cause and effect in the texts as well as
distinguish between intention or wish and fact and past events.
You will read
the text vowelled and unvowelled.
Listening & pronunciation:
You will
practice listening to the “tale” several times while reading the vowelled text
aloud repeatedly with the reader and after the reader.
You should
record your reading and compare it to the sound file you heard.

will work on understanding the simple plot and understanding some detailed
events. You will focus on tense agreement and the different voices
(characters) of the story.

In this unit, you will listen and read biographies of famous Arab singers,
actors, politicians and men of letters. You will learn new words from words
you know. You will practice following the time line in the different
biographies through ordering events. You will learn how to understand texts
that talk about achievements and important events in one’s life. As in the
previous text types you will be practicing reading for gist as well as for
specific details.

You
